Promotion Days on GMV Max

GMV Max is TikTok Shop Ads’ automated solution that uses your existing videos, optimizes delivery across organic and paid traffic, and helps maximize your shop’s total GMV.
Promotion Days is an optimization feature in GMV Max that helps sellers maximize sales during peak shopping periods. When enabled, Promotion Days automatically adjusts ROI goals and budgets so your campaigns can capture more traffic and drive higher GMV.

How It Works

  • ROI adjustment: During promotions, the system lowers your ROI goal by 10%, 20%, or 30%.
  • Budget adjustment: By default, campaign budgets increase by 50% (customizable). However, if auto budget is turned on, the default will be updated to increase by 50%, with a maximum of 10 increases."
  • Scheduling: Promotion Days can follow TikTok Shop’s default promotional calendar or be customized to match your own campaign needs.
  • Supported campaigns: Both Product GMV Max and Live GMV Max campaigns.

Key Benefits

  • Boost your GMV: Capture incremental GMV during mega sales like Double Days, Paydays, and seasonal campaigns. Promotion Days helps sellers unlock higher profits by balancing ROI targets with sales lift.
  • Automate Campaign Adjustments: Once turned on, campaigns automatically adjust ROI goals and budgets during promotion days. No need to manually update campaigns when traffic surges.
  • Flexible Setup: Default calendar covers key shopping festivals, but sellers can also customize dates and ROI targets. Works across both Live and Product GMV Max campaigns.

What’s New: Smarter ROI Goals

We’ve made an update to how ROI goals are calculated during Promotion Days. This change helps ensure your campaigns reflect real performance and stay competitive during busy shopping periods.
  • Before: Your promotional ROI goal was simply your input ROI minus 10%, 20%, or 30%.
  • Now: Your promotional ROI goal is based on the lower of:
    • Your recent average ROI over the last 7 non-promotion days (L7D), or
    • The ROI you entered.
After that, the system applies the 10%, 20%, or 30% reduction.
👉 This update means your Promotion Days ROI is anchored to your actual recent performance, giving you more accurate adjustments and stronger chances of boosting GMV.

How to Set Up Promotion Days

  1. Enable Promotion Days
    1. When creating or editing a GMV Max campaign, toggle on Promotion Days
  2. (Optional) Edit the schedule
    1. Use the calendar to include/exclude preset shopping events (e.g. Double Day, Payday) or add custom dates.
  3. (Optional) Edit ROI target
    1. Default ROI reduction is 10%. You may choose 20% or 30%.
    2. The system shows GMV estimates for different ROI settings.
  4. (Optional) Edit budget
    1. Default budget increase is 50%. You can raise or lower this.
  5. Review reporting status
    1. Off: Promotion Days not enabled.
    2. On / Active: Campaign is running with Promotion Days settings.
    3. On / Inactive: Promotion Days enabled, but outside of promo window.

Best Practices

  • Turn it on early: Enable Promotion Days at least 3–5 days before the event so the system can learn and optimize in advance.
  • Set realistic ROI goals: Enter ROI targets that reflect your real campaign performance. The system will anchor to recent ROI trends, so inflated goals won’t help.
  • Ensure enough budget: Promotion Days automatically increase budgets (default +50%). Make sure your budget is high enough to capture additional traffic.
  • Refresh creatives: Upload new videos or live assets before the event. Fresh creatives help improve performance and prevent fatigue during high-traffic days.
