From a Sales Promoter to an Online Seller on TikTok Shop New, the founder of Tinybity, shared with the TikTok Shop team that she had tried various jobs, from being a promoter selling phone numbers to working in malls convincing people to sign up for credit cards for monthly donations. These roles required strong communication skills. Inspired by someone close to her, New decided to embark on a journey in online selling, eventually choosing TikTok as her first platform.
Starting with Just a 950 Baht, She Made Hundreds of Thousands
The beginning of Tinybity started when New decided to purchase clothes at Pratunam Market with only 950 baht. She then immediately began live selling on TikTok Shop. It took her three days to sell the 10 pieces she had initially bought. After that, New set a goal to close 100 orders, just like other online sellers brag about.
In the early days of her live streams, which began in August 2022 when TikTok Shop was newly launched, New recalled that only a few dozen viewers tuned in. However, with her determination and discipline, setting a goal to stream every day for up to 8 hours, the viewership gradually increased. By the end of the first month, New had generated sales in the hundreds of thousands, starting with just a few hundred baht in capital.
Making a Difference in Live Selling: The Key to Success
New explained to the team that although many stores sold similar products, few took live selling seriously before. Especially when sellers model the products live for customers to see, this approach was an opportunity New seized to differentiate her store from others.
Moreover, New continuously improved the live stream's set and atmosphere, which made her memorable to customers. Her live streams were not just about selling products; they were about creating a unique, entertaining experience that led to successful sales.
A Small Team (Just One Person) Can Create High-Quality Live Streams
Tinybity primarily uses OBS software for live streaming, as it allows for more interactive elements, like adding product images to give viewers a clearer idea. Although many think using OBS is complicated and requires a large team, New shared that even a single person can manage a high-quality live stream with OBS. For stores that cannot use OBS, TikTok also offers TikTok Studio, similar to OBS, which every shop can use.
Don’t Overfocus on Live Viewer Numbers; Pay Attention to Those Who Stay
Although Tinybity doesn't always have high viewer numbers, New never gets discouraged. She emphasizes focusing on the viewers present because, even with just a few dozen people, those viewers can generate significant sales, no less than when the viewership is higher.
Tinybity, led by New, started with minimal capital but achieved success with hundreds of thousands in sales on TikTok Shop within the first month. This success came from New’s ability to spot opportunities and use unique strategies in live selling, along with continuously improving the set and atmosphere of her streams. Despite having only one person on her team, she managed to create high-quality live streams that captivated customers. She never gave up on low viewer numbers but focused on those who stayed, leading to effective sales.
