Introduction to Smart Promotion

Smart Promotion and Recommended Strategies are AI-powered features within the Seller Promotion module designed to simplify how sellers plan and manage promotions. Both features help sellers grow more efficiently by providing promotion strategies with different levels of control and automation depending on your needs.
  • Smart Promotion: Ideal for sellers who prefer automated and ongoing optimizations. Simply set your promotion plan duration, product range and discount limits. The system will automatically select, optimize and adjust promotions strategies in result timed to maximize results throughout the plan period.
  • Recommended Strategies: Perfect for sellers who want to stay in control but still leverage AI insight. Receive personalized, data-driven suggestions and discount recommendations based on your store performance. You can review and apply the strategies that best fit your business goals.

  • To setup Smart Promotions on Seller Center PC, visit the promotion module and navigate to "create promotion" tab
  • Potential GMV Increase: Refers to the potential sales growth after applying Smart Promotion with the recommended discount range.

Select Product Segments

  • Product Segments are provided to help you easily identify different product types and create your Smart Promotion plan. Newly added products in the same segment will be auto-enrolled to Smart Promotion, with exception to custom product segment
    • Trending: Product with high page views (PV) performance in the last 30 days
    • Clearance: Product with no sales in the last 30 days and available stock of 25 units or more
    • Best-selling: Product with high order volume in the last 30 days
    • Non-competitive: Top 200 products by GMV and traffic ranking and do not match other product segments
    • Newly listed: Product uploaded within the last 30 days
    • Custom: Selects products manually to include in Smart Promotion.
      • Products that are already part of another Smart Promotion plan or other AI strategies cannot be selected again during the same period.
  • Once Product Segments are selected, you can choose to exclude certain products from the product segment if needed.

Review Strategy

  • Promotion tools: Promotion tools in Smart Promotions are automatically selected during your Smart Promotion plan. These tools can change during your plan to ensure the best results.
  • Smart promotion name: Provide a name for your plan so that you can use it as internal reference later on when managing your plan
  • Period: Smart Promotions will begin immediately once you publish your strategy. The minimum duration is 7 days and it is recommended for each Smart Promotion plan to be active for at least 2 weeks in order for the system to optimize results.
  • Original price: Refers to the product's original listed price This may differ from the current price if the sellers have ongoing campaigns or promotions)
  • Discount range: Discount range is recommended for your products based on historical perfomance and data of similar products and sellers. Review the suggested discount range or edit to provide the preferred discount range.
    • Products are shown at product level and the discount range percentage will apply for each variation.
    • The system will use the provided discount range when delivering the Smart Promotion plan. The budget is automatically allocated between the promotional tools within Smart Promotions.
    • Smart promotion optimizes based on dynamic discounts, AI adjusts product prices within the discount range you have provided. Tailoring promotion prices for different customers to maximize conversion, therefore discount amount varies per customer.
    • The discount range will be utilized for Smart Promotion only and does not include the cost of any pre-registered campaigns, co-funded vouchers or co-funding programs (i.e. XBP, SFP, BXP, VXP, MDP). If you are enrolled in those programs, it will continue to operate separately.
  • Click "Confirm Strategy" and the Smart Promotion will begin immediately.
Note:
  • If a product is already registered in a campaign, its campaign price will not be altered and will continue as scheduled, following the platform's priority and stacking logic.
  • If a product is already part of an existing seller promotion, that promotion will be deactivated and replaced by the seller promotion generated through Smart Promotions.
  • If a product is already included in a Smart Promotion plan, it cannot be selected when creating new seller promotions (e.g. Product Discount, Seller Flash Sale, New Arrival Discount, Regular Voucher, Buy More Save More)

Create Recommended Strategies

Entrance

  • To setup Recommended Strategies Seller Center, visit the promotion module and navigate to "create promotion" tab
  • Sellers may also find Recommended Strategies in the "Manage your promotions" tab under the "Diagnosis" widget, which appears when the system detects either strong or weak promotion performance.

Review Strategy

  • Review the recommended strategies provided:
    • Click "Create now" to confirm the strategy and the promotion will begin immediately.
    • Click the edit icon if you would like to modify the strategy where you will be guided to the promotion create page with the recommended strategies pre-filled.
    • Click "Agree & Publish" to confirm the strategy and the promotion will be begin on the selected promotion period.

Managing Smart Promotion & Recommended Strategies

  • Go to Seller Center PC, visit the promotion module and navigate to "Manage your promotions" tab
    • All Smart Promotions plans will be displayed in the "Smart Promotion" tab
    • All Recommended Strategies will be displayed in the "Managed by seller" tab.
  • Click "Details" or "View" to view the Smart Promotion or Recommended Strategies details
  • Click "End Smart Promotion" or "Deactivate" to end the Smart Promotion of Recommended Strategies
    • Ending a Smart Promotion or Recommended Strategies will deactivate all the promotions. However, any unexpired coupons will still be valid until their expiration date.

Performance Monitoring

  • Sellers can monitor the performance of Smart Promotions on the Smart Promotions detail page
  • Performance data is updated daily and reflects T+1 (data as of the previous day)
    • GMV: Total cumulative GMV based on the selected period
    • Orders: Total cumulative orders based on the selected period
    • Customers: Total cumulative unique customers based on the selected period
    • ROI: GMV / Cost of Smart Promotion based on the selected period.
    • Page view: Total page views of the product based on the selected period
    • Promotion cost: Promotion cost for the product based on the selected period

FAQs

  1. Is there an additional fee if I join Smart Promotion?
No, there is no additional fee for using Smart Promotions. It is an AI-driven tool designed to automate your promotion strategies. While there is no extra charge to use Smart Promotions itself, the usual marketing costs such as product price subsidy cost will still apply.
  1. What is the difference between Smart Promotion and Recommended Strategies?
Both Smart Promotion and Recommended Strategies are AI-powered features designed to help sellers manage promotions more effectively.
  • Smart Promotion offers an automated plan. Once you set your campaign duration, product range, and discount limits, the system will automatically select, optimize, and adjust promotion strategies throughout the plan period to maximize results.
  • Recommended Strategies provide AI-driven suggestions while keeping you in full control. You’ll receive personalized, data-based promotion and discount recommendations that you can review and apply according to your business goals.
  1. Can I end my Smart Promotions anytime?
Yes. You can end your Smart Promotions at any time, and this will stop all active Smart Promotion strategies. To avoid potential impact on your product or shop performance, it is recommended to manually create replacement promotions after ending Smart Promotions.
Please note that while coupons will be deactivated immediately, any unexpired coupons already claimed by customers will remain valid until their expiration date.
  1. How come promotion tools and product prices are constantly updated for my products in Smart Promotions?
This is normal and part of how Smart Promotion optimizes performances. Smart Promotion automatically adjusts product prices within your set discount range and reallocates budget across promotional tools tailoring promotion offers for different customers.
  1. How many Smart Promotions plans can I run in my store?
Sellers can submit 1 plan for product segment and unlimited plans for custom plans as long as products do not overlap with another Smart Promotion plan or other AI strategies during the same period.
  1. Will Smart Promotion exceed the discount range I've provided?
Smart Promotion will not exceed the provided discount range, with one exception. If a product was pre-registered in a campaign before using Smart Promotion, the system may not detect the existing campaign. In this case, Smart Promotion could generate promotions that are stackable with the pre-registered campaign price. To avoid potential oversubsidization, we recommend not registering products in campaigns if you plan to use Smart Promotions.
