• TikTok Shop is committed to continuously improving the platform in order to support sustainable and stable long-term growth for both sellers and buyers — with a focus on elevating service quality and building confidence in agricultural product commerce.
• Since most fruits are classified as Restricted Products that require Category Qualification, due to the need for careful quality control, handling, and delivery timeframes, TikTok Shop has developed a Security Deposit system to help build buyer confidence in transactions. This deposit will only be utilized in cases where a refund must be issued to a buyer due to quality-related issues; Please note that this buyer refund feature is not yet available, but we'll notify you as soon as it is.
• You are welcome to withdraw or request a refund of the deposit at any time — for example, if you decide to stop selling or switch to a different product category. Read more below.
• This requirement will be gradually introduced starting 11 May 2026, with full enforcement taking effect by 11 June 2026. A transition period will be provided to allow existing fruit sellers sufficient time to prepare and strengthen their operations for long-term success

Actions to take:

• New sellers must obtain category qualification and pay the deposit before they can list and sell fruit products.
• Existing sellers who wish to continue selling fruits must complete the deposit payment by 11 June 2026 (1 month from the payment start date).
  • Failure to do so may result in limits on withdrawals, restrictions on new fruit listings, or removal of existing fruit listings.
• Sellers who do not wish to pay should remove all fruit listings and ensure all fruit orders, including any outstanding aftersales services, are completed before 11 June 2026 to avoid enforcement actions.

What is a security deposit?

A security deposit is a sum you may be required to pay as a TikTok Shop seller to help maintain a safe and trustworthy platform for both buyers and sellers. It helps ensure your compliance with TikTok Shop policies and guidelines, as well as applicable terms, laws, and regulations.
This deposit will only be utilized in cases where a refund must be issued to a buyer due to quality-related issues; Please note that this buyer refund feature is not yet available, but we'll notify you as soon as it is. Additionally, sellers are welcome to withdraw the deposit at any time — for example, if they decide to stop selling or switch to a different product category. Please view this section to learn more.

Who is required to pay a security deposit?

Since most fruits are classified as Restricted Products that require Category Qualification, due to the need for careful quality control, handling, and delivery timeframes, TikTok Shop has developed a Security Deposit system to help build buyer confidence in transactions.
If you list products under Food & Beverages > Fresh & Frozen Food > Fruit, you are required to pay a security deposit. The deposit amount depends on the fruit category you sell.

• Note: All fruit categories except Durian are Restricted Products that require Category Qualification. Before paying the deposit, please ensure you have already successfully obtained Category Qualification. Click here to learn more.
  
• If you operate multiple fruit shops, you must pay a separate deposit for each store.
• If you list products in multiple fruit categories, the highest applicable deposit amount will apply.
  • For example, If you list banana (3,000 THB deposit) and durian (15,000 THB deposit), the security deposit amount for durian will apply and you must pay 15,000 THB.
• If you start listing in a category with a higher deposit requirement, you must top up the difference.
  • For example, If you list bananas and have paid the 3,000 THB deposit, and wish to start selling durian, you must top up 12,000 THB to cover the security deposit amount for durian (15,000 THB deposit).
• You will not receive any interest generated from the security deposit.
• You are responsible for any bank charges, transaction fees, and payment processing costs related to the deposit.

How can I pay the security deposit?

1. Go to Seller Center > Finances > Deposit > Top up balance
   
2. Input the amount corresponding to the fruit category sold, choose your payment method, and follow the payment instructions on the screen.
   
   

What happens if I don't pay a security deposit?

You will be unable to list and sell products in categories that require a security deposit e.g. Fruits.

What happens if I have outstanding or unpaid deposit balance?

TikTok Shop will notify you of any outstanding or unpaid deposit balance. If you fail to pay by the specified due date, enforcement actions may include, but are not limited to:

• Formal warning messages
• Suspension of listing privileges
• Removal of product listings
• Temporary or permanent suspension of the shop's fruit sales
• Temporary or in serious cases, permanent withholding of any balance. Click here to learn more.

How can I request a refund of my security deposit?

You may apply for a partial or full refund of your security deposit via the steps below under the following circumstances:

1. Applicable to request at any time:
   • If you have paid more than the required security deposit
   • If you wish to deactivate your shop
2. Only applicable to request after all orders in relevant categories have been completed, including aftersales period and disputes:
   • If your current fruit category requires a higher security deposit and you stop listing products in that category and switch to another fruit category with a lower requirement, you may get a partial refund of your security deposit
   • If you completely stop selling fruit products

Requesting a refund

1. Go to Seller Center > Finances > Deposit > Request refund
   
2. Input your desired amount and click Submit
   
3. TikTok Shop will review and verify your eligibility for a deposit refund. Once approved, the refund will be processed to your preferred method within 30 calendar days.

How can I withdraw my security deposit?

Note: Due to system upgrades, the withdrawal function is temporarily unavailable and will be available again on 13 May 2026. We apologize for any inconvenience.
