Surprise-Based Products

To comply with local regulations and promote user protection, TikTok Shop strictly controls the promotion and sale of surprise-based products on our platform. TikTok Shop considers products to be surprise-based if an element of mystery or surprise is an integral part of the product that the user is purchasing (i.e. the customer is not certain of the contents of the product until they receive it). Note: Surprise-based products must never offer a consequential upside or downside in the form of 'lost' or 'gained' items of monetary value. Examples include, but are not limited to, Mystery Boxes, Advent Calendars or Golden Eggs.It is important to note that while surprise-based products can be sold on TikTok shop, sellers/creators must abide by our TikTok Shop Gambling, Gifting and Surprise-based Product Control Guidelines (Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippine) when selling or creating content.

What are surprise-based products?

Suprise-based product(s) usually contain single/multiple items that are securely sealed in a box/package/bundle at a factory. The possible product(s) that could be included in the box are known to buyers; however, the final products that the buyer will receive in the box/package/ bundle are unknown until the product is opened.Examples include, but are not limited to Mystery Box, Golden Eggs, Advent Calendars, and Surprise Trading Card Packs. Note:

• Randomised bundles/ products self-assembled by brands/ sellers/creators are strictly not allowed, including offers of product(s) with randomised colours, design and/or flavours.
• In addition, all cross-border sellers must be invited by TikTok Shop to be allowed to sell this type of product.

Listing Restrictions on Surprise-based Products

While surprise-based products can be sold, they are currently restricted on our platform. This means that sellers who wish to sell or promote such products must abide by our TikTok Shop Gambling, Gifting and Surprise-based Product Control Guidelines (Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippine). Below is a summary of our listing restrictions/requirements regarding surprise-based products. Sellers/creators are encouraged to read our full guidelines before offering these products to users.

1. Product Requirements

1. The product must be manufactured in a factory and cannot be assembled by brands, sellers or creators. They must be purchased and resold in the manufacturer's original packaging and content without any alterations. All sold product(s) must also be sealed.
   1. Note: surprise-based products cannot be opened boxes or packaged during the livestream. They must be sealed and pre-packaged.
2. Surprise-based products must not contain any prohibited or unsupported items. Please refer to our Unsupported Products Guidelines and Prohibited Products Guidelines for more information.

2. Product Listing Requirements

1. The sellers/creators must include the following information clearly in their product listing description:
   1. Visual image(s) showing the possible product(s) the buyer may receive in the surprise-based product listing.
   2. The quantity, category, and variation of products the buyer may receive.
   3. The value of the product(s) that the buyer will receive.

3. Pricing Requirements

The product as a whole must be less than USD100.
