Overview

This document is aimed at providing a step-by-step guidance of Affiliate for sellers. Follow the four simple steps to help you build efficient Affiliate connection with creators. In addition, we provide a list of commonly asked questions and answers in the end.

STEP1: Create Affiliate Plan

Key Terms:

  • An Open Plan is visible to all creators who are qualified for Affiliate. Creators interested in the according products will apply for selling the products and can start doing so once their applications are approved.
  • A Targeted Plan allows you to invite targeted creators to promote products for you. Creators can start promotion after they accept your invitation.
  • A Shop Plan enables you set a universal commission rate for all products in the seller center and the priority of displaying commission ratio for a product in different plans is "Targeted Plan> Open Plan> Shop Plan".

  1. Entrance
Log on to TikTok Shop Seller Center, go to the 'Affiliate' page and click 'New Open Plan' at the top of the Open Plan page.
  1. Select Products
Select one or more products with Live status and click "Next" to edit the plan.
Each product has one of three statuses:
  • Live: the product is available to be added.
  • Withdrawn: the product is deactivated by the platform.
  • Included in plan: the product is already included in a plan.
  1. Edit Plan
Add commission rate and a description of the reason for promoting for each selected product.
  • The commission rate must be between 1% to 80%.
  • When 'Approve creators' is enabled, sellers will have to manually approve applications from creators who want to share the product.
  • Pitch: Describe the key features and benefits of the product (e.g. design, style, fit, texture, fabrics, colors, usage, function, etc.). The maximum length of the pitch is 500 characters.
  • Sellers can set a uniform commission rate and whether manually approve applications from creators for all selected products at the top.
A pop-up window will notify sellers whether the submission is successful after clicking 'submit'.
  1. Manage creators application
Click 'Manage Creators' at the top of the Open Plan page.
Manage creator application by clicking the 'Approve' or 'Reject' tab.
  • Each request has one of three application status: Approved, Pending and Expired.
  • Sellers can uniformly approve, reject or remove the selected application.

  1. Entrance
Log on to TikTok Shop Seller Center, go to the 'Affiliate' page and click 'New Targeted Plan' at the top of the Targeted Plan page.
  1. Add products to your plan
Select one or more products and click "Next" to edit the plan.
Similarly, each product has one of three statuses:
  • Live: the product is available to be added.
  • Withdrawn: the product is deactivated by the platform.
  • Included in plan: the product is already included in a plan.

Add Plan name and plan description (optional).
  • Add commission rate and a description of the reason for promoting for each selected product.

  1. Select Creators
Search creators by entering usernames and click 'Add' to add creators with e-commerce permission.
  • It is better to contact your interested creators first (Please refer to step 2)
  • The maximum number of creators for selection is 30.
  1. Manage Creators
From here, you can manage creators and check their products adding status:
  • Check whether and what products they have added:

  • And you can remove the creators from your plan = not working with that creators via "Manage Creator"

PLEASE NOTE:When sellers deleted an existing and no more wanted Targeted Plan, either removing the creators or the products, once confirmed by the creators, the changes take effects immediately. All changes effective time will be based on local time zone.

Shop Plan

  1. Entrance
Log on to TikTok Shop Seller Center, go to the 'Affiliate' page and select 'Shop Plan'.
  1. Edit plan
Enter the uniform commision rate for all products.
Sellers can quit Shop Plan by clicking 'Quit plan' and a pop-up window will appear to notify sellers to make double-check.
  1. Manage Creators
From here, you can manage creators and check their products adding status:
  • Check whether and what products they have added:

  • And you can remove the creators from your plan = not working with that creators via "Manage Creator"

STEP 2: Connect with Creators (Two Options)

Proactive Option: Go to E-Commerce Creator Connect and look for creators

Share a product link with the creators to search on TikTok Shop

This is an option often for Ops team match-making, ops team or creators both can receive a product link sent by sellers to search on TikTok Shop for adding to Showcase.

  1. Go to Seller Center, select "Manage Products" --> Live tab --> click on "eye icon"--> get the product link (see Image 1)
  • You will see products in live status are displayed

  • You will see the product link of that product and the detail page (see Image 2)

  1. Entrance
Log on to TikTok Shop Seller Center, go to Affiliate > Find Creators. image
  1. Select Creators
Select the Region to look for creators in your region, and you can filter the creators list by Followers, Follower Age and Follower Gender. The filtered creator list can be sorted by creators' Followers, Videos Posted and Avg. video views. image
  1. Contact Creators
Go to the targeted creator’s home page, and click 'Contact' to share your contact information and express your willingness to cooperate. image
After you invited creators, and get them accepted, you can add them to your targeted plan. (direct to targeted plan page will be ready in weeks) image
Note for sellers:
  1. Share your Targeted Plan to creators for promotion via URL
  2. Only if creators are invited in this targeted plan are able to go the invitation page, for non-invited creators, the browser will display an error message.
  3. Android system user will need to update your TikTok App version to 20.0
  4. Make sure you have TikTok installed in your phone, otherwise when you click on the URL, it's not going to respond.
  5. If you haven't log-in to your TikTok, make sure you log-in and the URL will be effective
  6. Network issues may occur, please try multiple time before you report it as a bug.
Option 1:
  • Once you done creating the plan, you can copy link to share the plan invitation to WhatsApp (But please make sure sellers HAVE creators' WhatsApp) -- See Image 1
Option 2:
  • On Plan list page, seller can also click "copy link" to get the plan URL for sharing. -- See Image 2
Once creators get the link on WhatsApp or any mainstream chat tool or browser, they can directly open this link and see the below page. image

Reactive Option: Add your contact information in Seller center and be reached by creators

Route 1: Plan tab
  1. Entrance (two routes)
Log on to TikTok Shop Seller Center, go to the 'Affiliate' page and click "Start to Set Up" at the top.
A guide notification will appear at the top of the Open Plan and Targeted Plan page if the seller has never confirmed contact info.
Route 2: Account Info tab
  1. Entrance (two routes)
Click "Set up" to fill in the contact information.
  1. Add Contact Information
  • Add one of or both the WhatApp Account and Email Address.
  • Click "Create".
  1. Edit Contact Information
Go to ‘Contact Info’ tab, and click 'edit' button to edit WhatsApp Account and/or Email Address.
Sellers can hide the contact information to creators by turning off the blue switch.
  1. Check the inquiries of creators
Go to your Seller center in Affiliate and check the top box for messages unread or go to "Manage orders" to select "contact buyer"
Check your email & WhatsApp and communicate with creators for content creation details and settle on any details.

STEP3: Payment & Settlement

CPS commission is directly deducted from the merchants' payment in the third party settlement splitting, and assigned to corresponding creators, with the 2 settlement day of the 1st and 16th of each month.

STEP4: Check your performance

  • You can view your overall Affiliate revenue under "Data Compass" on the left bar, and below will show the performance of all your plans.

  • If you want to check your products & plan performance in a creator perspective, go to "Seller center" and check on "Creator Analytics" on "Data Compass", you will be able to see:
    • All creators ranked based on their sales performance, commission you set, product they promote

FAQ:

How do sellers get Affiliate onboarded?

When you get your TikTok Shop Seller Center account registered, you can directly enter the Affiliate page from the top of the homepage.

Will sample free for connected creators?

It is up to you. If the sample is free, you can directly send the sample to the creator's address. If it is not free, the creator need to buy it in seller center as the normal customer.

If a product is in an open plan and also in a targeted plan, Open plan set the commission as 10%, and targeted plan as as 5%; when creator selected the targeted plan, what about the product in the 10% open plan?

If a product is in an open plan and a targeted plan, once creator accept the targeted plan invitation, then that product will display targeted plan's commission rate, which is 5%. The logic of displaying commission rate for a product in different plan is: target plan>open plan>shop plan.

If sellers set a plan (any type of plan)'s commission to X%, are their creators will be affected and applied that X% commission?

If the plan commission rate is increased, it will take effect immediately, but if the commission rate is reduced or deleted, it will take effect at midnight tonight.
